Senior Lobbyist/Director of Government Relations – SGR LLC, Government Relations & Lobbying
SGR LLC, Government Relations & Lobbying – is seeking a qualified Senior Lobbyist/Director of Government Relations to help head up SGR lobbying efforts and drive company growth. Through its relationship with Sphere Consulting, a communications and reputation management company, SGRs philosophy will draw on extensive communications and media relations experience, which will be a guiding factor to SGR’s approach to lobbying. We believe this model is essential to the success of modern-day lobbying, because effective advocacy must continually deploy an expanding rage of complementary components.
SGR will work in tandem with Sphere Consulting, which provides solutions for several of the world’s largest companies, organizations and individuals across industries. Sphere provides our clients with a range of capabilities related to media relations, public affairs campaigns, and digital strategy with ongoing projects for leading firms in financial services, telecommunications and media, pharmaceuticals, aerospace and defense, manufacturing, retail and clothing, infrastructure, along with other business in major transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Lobbyist will be responsible for developing and implementing government relations and lobbying strategies, practices and processes for our clients. The Senior Lobbyist will act as the primary management liaison between SGR, clients, and the federal government, with a particular focus on either the Senate or House side. The Senior Lobbyist will also provide leadership, strategy, vision and direction to identify, develop and implement best practices for government relations and lobbying. The Senior Lobbyist will also identify and develop relationships with related trade organizations and other federal agencies to ensure that SGR is fully utilizing its Association Memberships to implement its business objectives and fulfill client needs. He/She will work on an ongoing basis to leverage key contacts and relationships to develop new business and advance SGR corporate visibility and branding.
Qualifications:
Possess more than 10 years experiencing in managing, lending and directing state and/or federal government affairs and legislative initiatives. Hill experience preferred. Candidates should possess strong research and writing abilities, a high degree of professionalism, and an enthusiasm to attend events and meetings outside traditional working hours. Candidates should have a proven track record of achieving profitability, quality, and revenue goals in a consulting environment. Candidates should have a commanding knowledge of key policy areas and key figures in Washington, exhibiting broad understanding of Washington, leading trends and changes in advocacy, and political and regulatory landscapes. Candidates should possess strong managerial skills and be willing and capable of managing, developing, and motivating SGR and Sphere team members in multiple office locations to complete project deliverables. Candidates should possess strong skills in the areas of interpersonal communication, analysis, critical thinking, attention to detail, and multi-tasking, and be capable of serving as key contact person for significant clients. Candidates should be able to leverage Sphere and SGR relationships, clients, and their own contacts to increase business and form relationships with key clients, as well as participating in writing proposals and prospecting of new clients. Candidates possessing a JD, MBA, or relevant advanced degree preferred.

Develop and maintain effective relationships and liason with designated federal agencies, trade organizations, and coalitions involved with client programs. Assure that client policies and positions are brought to the attention of appropriate government officials and related association, organizations, and coalitions. Ensure that relevant information on government programs and coalition activities is brought to the attention of SGR Senior Lobbyists and Clients. Assist Senior Lobbyist and Clients by informing them of current and forthcoming regulation and federal and state policy as it pertains to their interests, and provide assistance in developing policy recommendations on those federal and/or state programs.
Qualifications:
Possess three to five years of Capitol Hill experience. Candidates should have a commanding knowledge of key policy areas and key figures in Washington, exhibiting broad understanding of Washington, leading trends and changes in advocacy, and political and regulatory landscapes. Candidates should be flexible self-starters possessing intellectual curiosity and a creative problem-solving ability with a consultancy mindset. Candidates should possess strong skills in the areas of interpersonal communication, analysis, critical thinking, attention to detail, and multi-tasking. Candidates should work well independently and within a team while interacting effectively with various levels of management and with clients. Candidates should possess strong research and writing abilities, a high degree of professionalism, and an enthusiasm to attend events and meetings outside traditional working hours. JD, MBA, or relevant advanced degree preferred.
